Deeper and deeper.
Something we had noticed while watching Rosswood was that there seemed to be a lot of glowing dots. We think that most (if not all) of them are simply reflections from Alex and Jay’s flashlights that the new camera picks up better than in the original MH. Here are some interesting outliers:
Roswood: Part 3 (2:15). Two glowing spots of light down the dark corridor. They’re probably the reflection of Alex and Jay’s flashlights, but they seem too close to each other, too well aligned. But, idk, coincidences can happen. Still creepy.
Rosswood: Part 3 (11:32), right side of the screen. We wouldn’t have thought anything of it since it’s just one spot, not two.
But it changes colors. If it was something reflecting Jay’s flashlight, it wouldn’t change from a white reflection to a red one. It is unlikely that something was watching them half-hidden behind a tree (and that’s why we only see one “eye”), but it would be a little funny.
Rosswood: Part 4 (15:49). Two glowing spots? It’s hard to tell due to the motion blur.
If any of these instances were indeed glowing eyes, maybe there was something else skulking around the hospital’s hallways, following them around.
Totheark uses a variety of imagery to convey information cryptically. The first time that we see the glowing eyes motif is in Entry ###### (uploaded in Mar 6, 2010).
And it wouldn’t make a return until much latter in Memories (uploaded in Jun 21, 2011). Here the glowing eyes pierce complete darkness at 0:10.
There’s a gif of a face with stars for eyes at 0:15. Stars are bright, so it could still have the same meaning. And then take the center stage at 0:21
Classified shows Hoody with two toned circles for eyes, one of them being slightly smaller and of a darker color*.
Inquiry shows two white dots over a black background that seem to be dripping. Tears? Blood?*
Decay does something very interesting with the glowing eyes. They appear over a picture of Brian that has been edited beyond recognition that rapidly flashes and changes:
Always watching. Even in the darkest of nights.
Interestingly, during a split second, the figure loses an eye.*
Sidetone may be a fluke, but we think it is interesting nontheless. It shows two glowing circles behind someone that seems to be Alex in the tunnel.
However, they soon become three circles. This is the only instance that I’ve found in which three circles or dots are used by totheark. We are unsure if it’s supposed to mean anything. The number of Alex’s deathly victims up until this point?
Display shows a heavily distorted face with two toned circles for eyes, one of them being smaller than the other*.
The face disappears, but the glowing eyes remain observant in almost complete darkness while an operator symbol obscures the only source of light.
The investigator known as Inunah has let us know that, a few frames of Jessica's face in Entry #52 edited over the Rosswood tunnel appar with heavy editing. Her eyes seem to have been edited out, leaving only white spaces. Could it be that it is meant to represent glowing?
Decline shows glowing eyes edited into a picture.
And then over this frame of Alex taken from Entry #67.
Conversion has several frames of a figure with glowing eyes obscured by heavy static.
In Quadrant we can see two glowing eyes, one being smaller than the other) over a frame of Hoody swinging a wrench at Jay in Entry #79.
Finally, Null signs off the last totheark video with an inverted image of Hoody’s mask in which the eyes are more prominent than in the actual mask and glow over the static effect.
The overall meaning of the glowing eyes motif in totheark’s videos seems to be the same as in Rosswood: someone or something that watches from darkness. However, while in Rosswood the glowing eyes have been shown to be linked to something dangerous, in totheark it’s safe to assume that they’re a stand-in for Brian’s constant surveillance of the Marble Hornets characters, both to watch over them and to reveal all their secrets. Always watching.
